HSE Specialist – Steel Manufacturing (Forging)

A Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist is responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted safely and in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating workplace risks, implementing safety programmes, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture. In high-risk environments such as steel manufacturing or forging, the HSE Specialist plays a critical role in protecting employees, reducing operational hazards, and supporting safe, efficient production.

We are seeking a highly experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist to join our client's team in a demanding steel manufacturing/forging environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, ensuring legal compliance, reducing operational risk, and supporting safe, efficient production processes.

Pay

Negotiable, based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain HSE systems aligned with the OHS Act, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
Conduct risk assessments and plant safety inspections
Lead incident investigations and corrective action processes
Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems (LOTO, hot work, confined space, lifting operations)
Drive HSE training and awareness programmes
Monitor environmental compliance and SHEQ initiatives
Ensure adherence to PPE and workplace safety standards

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma/Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health or equivalent
Minimum 3 years’ HSE experience in steel manufacturing, forging, foundry, or heavy industrial environments
Strong knowledge of OHS legislation and ISO standards
Strong reporting, investigation, and people management skills
